Who Can Vote in the Primary Elections?
To vote in the 2024 Massachusetts state primary elections, you must:
- Be a registered voter in Massachusetts
- Be at least 18 years old on Election Day
- Not be currently serving a sentence in jail or prison for a felony conviction
How to Register to Vote
You can register to vote online, by mail, or in person at your local town or city hall.
Online: Visit the Massachusetts Secretary of State's website at www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr to register online.
By mail: Download a voter registration form from the Secretary of State's website and mail it to your local election officials.
In person: Visit your local town or city hall to register in person.

How to Vote in the Primary Elections
You can vote in the primary elections by mail, early in person, or on Election Day.
By mail: Request a mail-in ballot from your local election officials. You can return your ballot by mail or drop it off at your local town or city hall.
Early in person: Vote early in person at your local early voting location. Early voting locations will be open during the early voting period.
On Election Day: Vote in person at your assigned polling place on Election Day.
