Early Life and Career

Aleksander Aleksandrovich "Sasha" Barkov was born on September 2, 1995, in Tampere, Finland. He is the son of former professional hockey player Alexander Barkov Sr. Barkov began playing hockey at a young age and quickly showed promise. He played for Tappara in the Finnish Elite League before being drafted by the Florida Panthers with the second overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

NHL Career

Barkov made his NHL debut in the 2013-14 season and has quickly become one of the league's top young players. He has been a key part of the Panthers' success in recent years, leading the team to the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. In the 2022-23 season, Barkov recorded 39 goals and 49 assists in 67 games. He also led the NHL in face-off wins. His performance earned him the Lady Byng Trophy, which is awarded to the player who best combines sportsmanship and excellence.
