The 128th Boston Marathon on April 15, 2024, marked a memorable occasion. Race director Dave McGillivray sent off a group of Massachusetts National Guard members at the start line in Hopkinton, symbolizing the ongoing connection between the event and the community.
Honoring the Past
Mayor Michelle Wu, Governor Maura Healey, and family members of the Boston Marathon bombing victims gathered at a memorial site to lay wreaths, commemorating the lives lost and resilience of the community.
Exceptional Performances
Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia and Hellen Obiri of Kenya showcased impressive performances, earning first place in the men's and women's professional fields, respectively. The marathon also celebrated the participation of around 30,000 athletes from 129 countries, running the historic 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston.
Pre-Race Excitement
